Very poor sound quality! Also, do you really want this big cluncky box hanging around your neck? There are many better alternatives in the market.

I recently purchased one of these for my iPod touch because I liked how it encapsulated the iPod. It appeared to be the perfect solution with its built in speakers. The photos do not show that there is actually hard plastic inside instead of more protective foam. If you drop it, there will will be plenty impact transferred to you iPod.
I loaded 4 AAA batteries into it and was immediately disappointed with the low volume from the speakers. There is no external volume knob. After not even a minute of operation, there was terrible distortion in the speakers and a hot plastic, burning smell. I scrambled to shut it off and get my iPod out to make sure there was no damage. I was lucky.
The store I bought it from would not accept the return, so I am out the money. Buyer beware!

This sounded exactly like what I was looking for, but I should have returned it immediately.
The first problem is how you wedge your iPhone into the case. It’s very difficult to wedge in correctly and 9 times out of 10 it gets wedged in such a way that the volume is being turned down on the iPhone. This always took me several minutes to get right and so it was not quick to take the iphone in and out of the iHome case.
The sound quality was relatively poor when listening to spoken word and often not loud enough to hear clearly.
Then, at about 2 months the speaker stopped working right, crackling loudly.
It was a bad purchase.

Within the first week, the strap had become unstitched, frayed and come apart. Two weeks later the zipper pull tab broke off. We attached a replacement tab and shortly after the zipper separated so we could no longer close it.
The concept is great and worked well with our daughter’s assistive speech ITouch and Proloquo. The protective screen plastic is a bit too thick and takes some effort to press on the unit screen. Loved the on/off switch on the outside of the case rather than inside on other ones we checked. It’s a good idea but not well made.

I bought this case for my iPod Touch mainly for use when I go golfing or camping. For those activities I have really enjoyed useing this product. When I first got it, it was much bigger than I expected. I would use it alot more if not for the bulk of the thing. Besides the size, the only other downside is the ease of use. Getting my ipod into the case isn’t difficult, it’s just a chore to do so. Once you get your device into the case, I suggest you have planned in advance to leave it in there for the duration of whatever activity you have in mind. I would also recomend having your device fully charged because you cannot charge your device while it is in the case. Another thing that would have been usefull is an external volume control. On my touch, this is only a minor bother when useing apps like my kids sing along that does not have a volume control built into the app, if I were able to use the external volume controls on my device this would have not been an issue. The upside is that I feel very comfortable now taking my ipod outside with me to play. After my recent camping trip I was greatfull the case was durable enough to protect my ipod from drops that would have no doubt caused scratches and for preventing a larg amount of dust from even landing on it.
